It starts again...
After hoping that I would be back to school by this point in the year, having school start again is making me depressed about this whole transplant thing. When I stopped working in January, I thought they would call me, I would get the transplant, rehab over the summer and be back in time for school in the Fall. Well, it is fall, and I am not back. I haven't even gotten called. And I am going to Cleveland on Sunday so they can look at me, say "yeah, you're still sick," then send me back home. Like a knife in the heart.
Everyone is depressed that summer is over, school is starting, life is going on. I've never been one of those people. I've always loved the start of school; I've always hated summer, loved Fall. I don't know, just having the world move on while I'm forced to be stuck here, in limbo, is kind of depressing. ENOUGH OF THAT; ON TO THE COMEDY VIDEOS!

Just another reason I hate being politically correct

Does anyone think that something in this Google Maps snapshot is strange? Microsoft did. A 26 year old gamer on XBOX LIVE listed his 'location' as 'fort gay WV' on his XBox Live account. Microsoft thought that he was being crude and decided to suspend his user account. When this gamer called Microsoft to tell them that Fort Gay was a real place, the representative threatened to cancel his account if he didn't delete the slanderous words. Even the Mayor of the town couldn't get them to concede. They told him that it doesn't matter if 'gay' is in the town's name, it gets flagged and suspended.

Since this story was aired, Microsoft has updated their policies to allow for exceptions to occur.

RIDICULOUS, EH?

As if this guy could make ANYTHING 'International'

Does this guy look like Hitler? Because he is. For those of you who don't know, this is the douche who wants to burn Korans at his church in Florida this upcoming 9/11. He says it is an attempt to "confront a religion (he believes) is leading people to hell." Absolutely crazy. I remember another group of people who took the Holy Books of a certain people and burned them. They were called Nazis. And this douche is no better than a Nazi. My favorite thing about this is that he's grouping all Muslims together as terrorists and, as a Christian, I will be grouped with THIS huge douchebag.
I'm not even going to get into the weirdness about our Military leaders trying to convince the general population to not do something because it will hurt the troops. I agree that doing this will put more stress on our troops and put them in more danger, but I don't like the idea of our military making every American citizen do what they want us to do, as it may put them in danger. It seems like that may lead down a slippery slope. But I digress...

This guy's a douche.

America does not = Christian
CIVIL RELIGION is the idea of bringing a country together by giving it a sense of sacred authority. It's the idea that a country (for example) must survive or endure because it is sanctioned or blessed by God.
I came across this definition after trying to discover what it was that our politicians and social commentators continuously try to do in the public arena by espousing God in politics. I've always been uncomfortable with this practice, just like I've been uncomfortable with Christian music. It always seemed "iffy" to give "shoutouts" to God, or to use God's name to make money. Just because I write a song with "blessed be God's name", I am banking on the fact that his name will get me money from a certain group of people. It just seems wrong.
I've always thought it wrong to do it in politics, as well. And, lately, it seems that the divisiveness between parties and religions is only exacerbating the tension between "which group can certifiably say God is on their side."
I found THIS ARTICLE about Glenn Beck's rally and it really brought it home for me. If you don't want to read the whole article, I urge you just to read the bolded points. It's really quite interesting and enlightening to actually have it written out in front of your face.
Money quote:
"Perhaps the simplest test of determining if our mention of God in the context of our political process is appropriate would be to imagine this mention in the context of another nation. Would we be uncomfortable if a Canadian were making similar assertions?"
